Encouraging reminders for those suffering with painful flare ups

If you have a chronic illness that causes you pain and you’re currently experiencing a flare up, here are some encouraging words from someone who also has been dealing with these things too: Please remember that you don’t have to put up with the pain or else you will look weak, or unreliable, or lazy, or vulnerable.

It doesn’t matter how long it has been going for, you still deserve help even if other treatments haven’t worked well to ease your pain, you deserve to keep trying find something that helps.

It is okay if you need to take breaks to feel a little better, it’s okay to take medication for the pain, it’s okay if you want to seek help or if you want to try something new to make yourself feel a little better.

Doing these things doesn’t make you weaker because you should have just “put up with it” and not complain. You’re not being dramatic when you are suffering, and you don’t have to prove to anyone how bad that suffering is if they don’t believe you.

You don’t have to put up with pain so you can be strong, so you won’t be a burden or because others might have it worse. . You don’t have to make yourself unbearably uncomfortable to make others feel comfortable. It’s okay to be struggling with your health, and you are not lazy or weaker than others for it.

I’m sorry it hurts this bad, and I hope the pain gets a little better soon. You deserve more than to push yourself too hard by not taking care of your flare ups.

There are times in life when the only thing that can help someone is to rest, especially when you’re dealing with chronic illness. Even if your needs are different than other people, it doesn’t make you any less deserving of taking time off to rest and recover a little.
